Gabrielle Oettingen

Gabrielle Oettingen, Ph.D., is a Professor of Psychology at both New York University and the University of Hamburg in Germany.  She has conducted research on educational style and social hierarchy. Current research interests include goal setting and goal disengagement, motivation, self-regulation and learning. 

Dr. Oettingen received her bachelors, masters, and Ph.D. degrees in Biology and Behavioral Biology from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany.  She has had numerous publications and international presentations.
