Project Description

In collaboration with NYS-OMH, this comprehensive guide has been composed to assist caregivers of children hospitalized in inpatient mental health facilities.  By providing “tips” regarding what questions to ask of mental health providers and what to expect at various stages of the hospitalization process, this guide seeks to help demystify inpatient psychiatric care, improve caregiver-provider communication, and provide caregivers with sources of support.  The guide is currently in a final edit with NYS-OMH and the project Scientific Advisory Board.  Upon completion, it will be published and distributed at pertinent facilities.
