Barbara J. Burns, Ph.D., is Professor of Medical Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University School of Medicine. She conducts research on mental health services for children and adolescents with an emphasis on patterns of services across sectors and over time to better understand how mental health services contribute to outcomes in late adolescence and adulthood; the effects of case management for children with serious emotional disturbances; the patterns of service use for children’s mental health problems in the general population. She is the past recipient of the Carl A Taube Award for Excellence in Mental Health Services Research.
